Tatiana Grindenko
Tatiana Grindenko began her violin classes at the age of 6 at a music
school in the city Kharkov, Ukraine. Soon, her extraordinary talent was
recognized. At the age of 8 she performed a Bach Violin Concerto with Kharkov
Symphony Orchestra, and later played concerts by Wieniawski and Paganini with
the same orchestra. After moving to Moscow Ms. Grindenko studied in a special
musical school for children and at Tchaikovsky Conservatory with J.Yankelevich,
one of the most respected professors.
In 1968 Ms.Grindenko won The
First Prize and The Golden Medal at the World
Youth Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 1970 Ms.Tatiana Grindenko became a Prize Winner at the 1V
International Tchaikovsky Competition.
Two years later she was awarded The First Prize at
Wieniawski Competition in Poland.
The scope of her musical interests is surprisingly vast. Although her
reputation is that of romantic violinist, she also leads in modern music,
including vanguard, jazz, rock, and experimental electronic music. Many famous
Russian composers have dedicated works to her, including Schnittke, Artiomov,
Martynov, Part and Silvestrov. Luigi Nono's last composition "Hay, gue
camminar" for two violins, is dedicated to her and Gidon Kremer.
During
the years 1978 -
1988 due to the participation in rock and vanguard actions in the former Soviet Union Tatiana was not allowed to
accept invitations and go and play music abroad. The situation
changed with Perestroika and in 1989 she took part at
Salzburg Festival, playing together with Gidon Kremer and Valery Afanasiev. In the same year,
Ms.Grindenko played at Berliner Festwochen and in the United States.
In 1982 she founded the first barogue ensemble in the former USSR -
" Moscow Academy of Ancient Music". The Academy
is performing the style of
the 17th and 18th centuries. This ensemble participates in many famous music
festivals in Hungary, France, Germany, Spain, Finland, India, the Netherlands
and Italy.
Ms.Grindenko has performed with many well-known musicians and conductors:
Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Kurt Masur, E.Mravinsky, M.Rostropovich, Yuri Temirkanov,
Pavel Kogan, Heinz Holliger, Yuri Bashmet, Alexander Dmitriev, Nicolas
Harnoncourt, Gidon Kremer, Valery Afanasiev, David Geringas, Boris
Pergamenschikov, Gerard Causse, Thomas Zehetmair, Oleg Maisenberg, Vladimir
Mendelssohn, Ivan Monnighetti, Antonio Meneses.
T.Grindenko has recorded a variety of musical compositions by Melodia,
Eurodisk, Ondine, RCA, ECM, Wergo and Deutsche Grammophon. Together with Gidon
Kremer she recorded several double concertos including
Concerto Grosso N1 by Schnittke with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and
the last composition by Luigi Nono.
In 1989
Tatiana performed in Moscow for the first time Violin Concerto by Roslavetz
composed more than 60 years before. She also played this Concerto in London with
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (cond. Vladimir Ashkenazy), in Basel with Holliger,
in Paris with Orchestra de Radio France, in Wienna, and in Milan with the
Orchestra RAI. The concerto was recorded with Holliger under Wergo label.
In 1998 she worked as a musical director of the world premier of the
opera “Il Re Pastore” by B.Galuppi at the Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine,
Italy.
In 1999 she is a musical director of the performance “Mozart and
Salieri” , director A.Vasiliev, composer V.Martynov.
In 1999 her Project “A New Sacral Space” was recognized as one of the
best projects devoted to the celebration of new Millenium.
Moscow Academy of Ancient Music
The
leading Russian ensemble of soloists from Moscow named «The Academy of Ancient
Music» was founded by its head and soloist Tatiana Grindenko in 1982. It became
the first baroque collective in the
former Soviet Union.
Now
the Academy is a world
famous Moscow Philharmonic string
ensemble consists of 8-12
musicians. It comprises violins, violas, chellos, double-bass and harpsicord and
vocal soloists and they perform
European and Russian music of Renaissance and Baroque in authentic style on
period instruments using gut strings and baroque bows. The repertoire includes
music of more then 50 composers, from shot brilliant pieces to antique opera
"Il Re-Pastore".
Fascinating
programmes of the Moscow Academy are
introducing on a regular basis at
the most prestigious international festivals of authentic music: in Frankfurt,
Schleswig-Holstein, Bremen, Berlin, Munich, Bonn, Keln, Ludvigsburg, Wien,
Styriarte Graz, Boston, Utrecht, Vlaanderen, Glasgo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Glasgo,
They showed their art in Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Ravenna, Turino, Pesaro,
Bratislava, Brno, Budapest, Istambul. in
Moscow, St.Peterburg,
Riga, Kiev, Baku.
Leading
musicians of the authentic school - David James, Mark Tucker, Alexey Lyubimov,
Nicolaus Harnocourt are among guest-soloists of the Academy. Gidon Кгеmer,
Thomas Zehetmair, Irena Grafenauer, Robert Holl, Martin Bornus-Schetinsky,
Henricka Yanushevska have performed with the ensemble.
The
players bring а freshness and enthusiasm to their music-making that combines
faithfulness to their sources with an openness to experiment.
Last
years under the International Projects of Ms.Grindenko there were performed two
world premieres: the antique opera "Il Re-Pastore" by B.Galuppi
(XY111-th Century) and a minimalist-music opera "Exercises and Dances of
Guido" by V.Martynov (XX-th Century).
The Moscow Academy of Ancient Music has made
many recordings for radio аnd television and has released CDs by Melodiya,
Ondine, Opus 111, CCn'C recording
companies. There are "Programm-Music of the 18-th Century" by
Farina, Biber, Schmelzer, Corelli, Vivaldi
and also Russian music of the period.
OPUS-POSTH
The
unique programmes of Ms. Grindenko and "OPUS-POSTH" allow the audience
to make familiar with the contemporary Russian musical school, with the
best examples of modern music. Its range extends to string compositions written
by the modern Russian and foreign composers: A.Part, V.Martynov, I.Sokolov,
A.Bakshy, P.Karmanov and others who has created pieces especially to be
premiered by Tatiana Grindenko.
